The Wellington OPP is investigating a threat to Centre Wellington District High School in Fergus that warned of violence against the school. Officials called it a hoax, but the OPP isn’t promising any further details unless charges are laid.

Hilary McCann has been hired to be the head of the City of Guelph’s new Destination Marketing Organization. Her job will be to develop and implement the City’s new destination marketing plan and build partnerships in the local tourism industry.
The Federal government has launched the employer application period for the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program for 2023 program. Not-for-profit organizations, public sector employers, and private sector employers with 50 or fewer full-time employees can apply for funding from now until January 12, to hire young Canadians next summer.
Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington swept several Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers awards handed out last month including Best Digital Award, Best Radio Feature and the Online Excellence Award.
Upcoming Road Construction:
Metrolinx will be doing some work on the tracks at Alma Street on Sunday December 11 from 6 am to 6 pm so expect partial road closures. Wilson Street is expected to be re-opened next Friday.
College Avenue West’s westbound lanes between Edinburgh and Lynwood will be closed for emergency repairs for three days starting on Monday December 12.
Construction will begin on a temporary access road through the park from Brockville Avenue to Hayes Avenue so that construction can be done at the intersection of Hayes and York starting in 2023.
Advanced notice: the City of Guelph is planning for the next phase of work along Speedvale Avenue between Glenwood Avenue to east of the Guelph Junction Railway tracks starting in April 2023.
