Guelph Royals (IBL): It was a four-game weekend for the Royals and they split the difference by winning two and losing two. After falling 2-12 to the Baycats up north in Barrie, the Royals lost a little less embarrassingly to the Majors on Friday 1-2 in London. The tables were turned on Saturday when the Royals hammered Hamilton at home beating the Cardinals 10-1 while a Sundy rematch in Barrie saw Guelph emerging as the victor 7-3. On Tuesday night, the number two Barnstormers were in town, giving a chance for the sixth place Royals to make a move on fifth.
Guelph Storm (OHL): The Storm continue to look forward to fall with the announcement of theme nights for the upcoming season, as well as the full pre-season schedule. Along with the previously mentioned game in Ayr between the Storm and the Bulldogs, there will be five other games including two at the Sleeman Cente on Saturday August 30 against Brampton and on Friday September 5 against Oshawa.
Guelph Silvercreeks (OBA): It was a busy week for the ‘Creeks as they won one, lost one, and fought another to a draw. Last Wednesday, they took on the Waterloo Tigers to 9-all finish after fighting back from a five run deficit in the fifth inning, but luck was not on their side in Brantford where all they could muster is one single run scored in the eighth and losing to the Junior Red Sox 1-6. Things changed in Stratford on Saturday, where the Silvercreeks routed the Nationals 13-5, but it’s practically a pyrrhic victory considering that Stratford has only won one game out of 13 this season.
