Guelph Royals (IBL): Apparently, the Royals were saving all their runs for Sunday’s game in Kitchener. By the end of nine innings, Guelph had more than tripled up on the Panthers finishing 22-7. It was the second part of a sudden turn around for the Royals, who, after seven losses, beat the Red Sox at home on Saturday 7-5. The two wins managed to drag the team out of eighth place in the league… into seventh. Coming up this weekend it’s back-to-back games against the Maple Leafs and the Royals will be at home on Canada Day hosting Kitchener.
Guelph Storm (OHL): Sure it’s hot outside right now, but would you rather think about hockey? Well, Mark Pape is and the second round pick from Shaker Heights, Ohio signed an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Storm this week! Forward Ryan McGuire, who signed with the Storm in 2020, is making a move of his own, and he’s heading east to join the X-Men at St. Francis Xavier University. (Yes, they are the X-Men!) As for actual hockey games, a new Labour Day Classic is coming to Ayr this September as the Storm and the Bulldogs will play a preseason game on September 1.
Guelph Gryphons (OUA): Speaking about the fall and sports, University of Guelph Athletics has released the schedules for the 2025/26 rugby and field hockey seasons.
Guelph Silvercreeks (OBA): Not a great week for the Brantford Red Sox as even the junior team took a hit from a Guelph team. In this one, the Silvercreeks expanded their season scorecard to 4 and 3, breaking out with eight runs at the top of the second and adding four more in the third. The Junior Red Sox were never able to catch up and left town Sunday with a 13-2 loss. Last night, the Silvercreeks were in Kitchener to reckon with the Junior Panthers.
